The short slate offers few compelling pitching options, but Homer Bailey is at least worth a look. The Reds righty owns a 12.36 K/9 over the last 30 days which is the highest on the slate. Remember, Bailey has only made four starts this season after returning from injury and has earned a 3.66 ERA over those 19.2 innings. He’s been even better in his last two, allowing just one earned run and tallying 17 Ks in 11 innings. He will face the Dodgers who are swinging it well, but still striking out at one of the higher rates in the league this month.

It’ll be hard to pass up Jon Lester who is the biggest favorite on the slate at -222. It should be no surprise since the Cubs will be taking on the Padres who rank 29th in wOBA in the last 30 days while striking out at the second highest rate. Lester is dealing to a 1.75 ERA and .191 opponents batting average over his last four starts while whiffing 28 batters in 25.2 innings. As if all that wasn’t enough, Lester should benefit from pitching in San Diego tonight, making him one of the more likely cash game plays of the day.

We are in an interesting spot with Stephen Strasburg tonight. The fantasy stud has been on a terrible stretch recently, posting a 7.63 ERA over his last six starts. This is easily his worst stretch the entire season and he will now have to travel to Baltimore to face a potent American League offense. I wonder how many owners will opt to stack an Orioles offense against Strasburg based on name recognition alone. This is a really interesting GPP option to stack the Orioles whose range of outcomes is absolutely massive.
