Here’s a guy I don’t think we’ve talked about all season. It’s Tom Koehler. Something has clicked for Koehler who is posting a 0.67 ERA in his last four starts, spanning over 27 innings. Opponents are hitting a mere .129 off him in that span and Koehler has struck out 23. He’s going to have a really nice matchup with the White Sox who rank 23rd in wOBA in the last 30 days and will have to give up their DH in this National League park today. Speaking of the park, this is a pitcher friendly park in Miami that should continue to give Koehler a boost. The only issue is that he’s facing Chris Sale, so a win may be difficult to achieve.

I’m digging deep to find Zach Neal tonight. The Rookie has bounced back and forth from AAA this season but has really pitched well since his recent call-up on July 21st. He’s made one start, but has racked up 13.2 IP over four appearances allowing only one run (0.66 ERA) and walking only one batter. His most recent appearance want a solid 5.1 IP against the Orioles last week, where he only surrendered two hits and a solo homer. He’s not a high strikeout option, but he gets the Mariners who have faded a bit down the stretch and his price will allow for some roster flexibility.

I don’t really like writing about chalk, because they don’t need to be written about, but the Cubs are in an excellent spot again today. An offense that is absolutely rolling right now will take on Mike Leake who is sporting a 9.00 ERA over his last four starts. That’s 22 earned runs in 22 innings while only striking out nine hitters in the process. His opponents are hitting a ridiculous .359 against him! I think the Cubs will be just a tick less owned than usual thanks to their place on Sunday Night Baseball. Since most owners wait to see a lineup before creating fantasy lineups, many will forgo the Cubs despite the awesome matchup. If you’re willing to take a risk on the lineup (on Fanduel) or be around to late swap (on DraftKings), you’ll be able to unlock some of the best plays of the day at lower ownership.
