Carlos Carrasco is the headliner of this pitcher slate. Carrasco has produced a dominant five game stretch where he’s posted a 1.51 ERA and has pitched no fewer than six innings in any of those games. His 10.09 K/9 in the last thirty days in third best on this slate and he’s stranding a ridiculous 94.3% of baserunners. Today he faces the woeful Yankees who continue to struggle at the dish. The past month has produced a .315 wOBA which is 24th in the league. That continues a season-long struggle for the Yankees who are actually 25th in the league for the entire season.

I don’t like the ballpark or the matchup, but using Junior Guerra as a contrarian option is certainly intriguing. Guerra is having an excellent season, but has been nearly untouchable over his last three starts. He’s scattered just nine hits over his last 22.1 P and surrendered just two runs which would equate to a 0.81 ERA. Opponents are batting just .120 against him in that stretch and he’s striking out a batter per inning. Again, this is a tough matchup against the Cardinals but if you’re looking for a lower-owned GPP option, consider Guerra.

I don’t know how many times we’ve discussed the Angels as a viable stack option, but they certainly are today. The Angels have been slugging lately, earning the second best wOBA in the last 14 which sticks them right between the Red Sox and the Blue Jays. Only the Blue Jays have scored more runs and they rank 9th in stolen bases in that span which shows they are capable of scoring points in a lot of different ways. They will benefit from a venue change, heading to Baltimore. Finally, despite Chris Tillman‘s impressive 11-2 record, there is plenty to be excited about when targeting him. His 5.03 xFIP is 4th worst on this slate and he’s posting a 6.23 ERA over his last four starts.
