We have to continue to point out Carlos Martinez who is in a really good groove right now. Over his last four starts, he’s pitching to a stellar 2.00 ERA with a .188 opponents batting average. If we cut that down to his last three starts, the numbers are even better. He’s pitching to a 1.29 ERA (three earned in 21 innings) with a .153 opponents batting average and piling on 25 strikeouts. His latest performance was a dominant 13 K night against the Brewers. I don’t love him pitching in Cincy, but even with the recent resurgence of the Reds, they are still a middle of the road offense.

If you want value, look no further than Jose De Leon who will make his Major League debut for the Dodgers today. This is really an opportunity to buy the matchup against the Padres who are brutal at the dish. No team has struck out more often in the last thirty days and they also rank second-worst in wOBA. De Leon is impressive in his own right, posting a 2.61 ERA in AAA this season without allowing a run in his last 18 innings. His control is extremely impressive, as he has struck out 40 batters since his last walk.

Wade Miley hasn’t been the best acquisition for the Orioles. In six games since joining the team, Miley has pitched to a 7.14 ERA and allowing opponents to hit .325 against him. His strikeout numbers are fine, but he is putting up big crooked numbers in the hits and runs categories. Now he will battle the surging Yankees who rank 7th in wOBA in the last thirty days while boasting a .187 ISO, which is 6th best in the league.
