An interesting option in Carlos Rodon tonight. In Rodon’s first two seasons he has proven to be a high strikeout pitcher, averaging over nine Ks per nine innings in both season. It’s been no different recently for Rodon who is posting 10.50 K/9 in the last thirty days which is third best on this slate. He’s been a workhorse for the White Sox this season, lasting at least six innings in 11 of 13 starts this year. He’s continued his good run in the last three starts, posting a 3.00 ERA over his last 18 innings. Those have been tough innings against the Royals, Indians and Blue Jays which are some of the most formidable offenses in the league. He will get a much softer opponent tonight against the Twins who rank 18th in wOBA in the L30 and only the Mets are striking out more versus lefties this season.

No team is striking out more than the Brewers on this slate at brutal 24.9% K rate in the last thirty days. Along with that high strikeout rate, they rank 23rd in wOBA in that time frame. That sets up well for Kenta Maeda who has been outstanding for the Dodgers in his rookie season. He’s sporting a 2.91 ERA on the season, but has that down to 2.34 over his last six starts. Maeda has struck out a batter an inning in that span and has pitched at least five innings in all 15 starts this year.

I don’t always love the Rays against RHP, but they feel like a solid GPP play tonight. They face Jordan Zimmermann who is as volatile as they come. He went from lights out two starts ago to giving up seven earned in 3.2 innings in his last outing. That’s a common theme for Zimmermann who has surrendered seven ER in three of his last seven starts. Over that seven game stretch, opponents are batting .298 and he’s posting a 6.48 ERA.
