Trevor Bauer will likely be popular tonight and for good reason. He’s been dealing since June 1, posting a 1.86 ERA over his last five games (38.2 IP). He’s coming off a complete game, ten strikeout performance against the Rays which makes the third time in four games that Bauer has notched at least nine strikeouts. Tonight he’s going to benefit from facing a National League squad that ranks 29th in wOBA in the last thirty days.

Daniel Mengden makes for an appealing value play tonight. He’s made three starts this season and his career, for that matter. While he’s lost all three, it hasn’t truly been because he’s pitched poorly. Mengden is sporting a solid 3.00 ERA in 18 innings and has struck out 21. He’s lasted at least six innings in each of his last two starts and is coming off a nine strikeout performance against the Brewers. He’s going to benefit from facing another National League team tonight in the San Francisco Giants. The Giants rank 21st in wOBA in the last 30 days and Mengden should benefit from the most pitcher-friendly park in the league.

Here’s a solid opportunity to invest in the Rays who will face Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez has been knocked around this season, stuck with a 7.40 ERA over his last four starts. His 5.56 xFIP is the worst on the slate and he’s surrendered seven homers over those 20.2 innings. Now he has to take on the Rays who rank second in wOBA versus LHP this season.
