I’m licking my chops to get Stephen Strasburg against the Reds. Strasburg has racked up 11 K/9 which is the best on the slate. He’s tallied at least ten strikeouts in five of his last eight starts, so it should be no surprise that the Nationals have won every game started by Strasburg this season. He’s dazzled with the slate’s best xFIP (2.94) and will get the woeful Reds tonight. Cincy ranks 26th in wOBA this season while striking out at the ninth-highest rate.

The surprising season of Jeremy Hellickson continues. The Phillies starter is racking up 9.19 K/9 this season which is 4th-best on this slate. He’s only surrendered six earned runs over his last 27 IP, which is good for a 2.00 ERA. More impressively, he has shown excellent control in that span, walking only three batters while striking out 28. In fact, he hasn’t walked more than one batter in eight of ten starts this season. Tonight he will get the Brewers who are 19th in wOBA this season with the highest strikeout rate in the league. The Brewers really struggle away from Miller Park, dropping to 26th in wOBA on the road.

Edwin Escobar has pitched three games in his Major League career while making exactly one career start. That start was five days ago where he got blasted by Houston for ten hits and eight runs over 3.1 IP. The lefty didn’t have much working for him (obviously), only striking out two batters while the Astros strikeout at ridiculous rates. Now he has to battle the Chicaco Cubs who are potent in every sense of the word. The Cubs rank 5th in wOBA this season and are one of the deeper offenses in the league. I suspect they will be highly owned, so you might find plenty of value stacking the middle to bottom of the order while being a bit contrarian.
