MLB Preview, Tuesday June 13th – DraftKings & Fanduel

MLB Preview, Tuesday June 13th – DraftKings & Fanduel

Our pitching options today are fairly thin. If you’re going to the top I think Kershaw is the way to go. Although he has been getting tagged by lefties, the hard contact rate vs. them is very low. The Indians have a bunch of switch hitters that will be forced to hit right handed so Kershaw will hold the platoon advantage.

Brad Peacock is a great option,if you aren’t paying up for Kershaw. He just burned everyone in his last start, so his ownership could be lower than it should. He has massive K rates, which is mostly due to the fact he worked out of the bullpen this season, but in his 4 starts his strikeouts have gone 8, 8, 9, and 1. The Rangers are a super boom or bust team, with players like Gallo, Odor and Mazara. Buck Farmer vs. the DBacks at home. The DBacks are awful on the road, so a GPP flier is worthy here.

Cheap pitching options: Christian Bergman and Ty Blach. They have solid match ups, and you will need one of these guys to get Kershaw and Nationals bats. GPPs only.

Top Stacks:

  1. Washington Nationals – RA Dickey sucks and it is blazing hot in D.C. The Nats are priced up, but they are in the best spot today. Don’t forget about Goodwin.
  2. Seattle Mariners – They got Mitch Haniger back, so this lineups gets even better. Kyle Gibson is awful to both sides of the plate. A park upshift for the M’s and they face a trash pitcher.
  3. Los Angeles Dodgers – Not sure what the ownership will be on this one, but Bauer sucks to lefties. .373 wOBA to lefties won’t help in this matchup, as the Dodgers have lefty smashers. I’m looking to all of the lefties and Justin Turner.

One Offs: A new section, pouting out good platoon options to fill your lineups out.

Lefties vs. Gerrit Cole – Blackmon, Cargo, Wolters and Tapia

Lefties vs. Joe Ross – Adams, Markakis and Inciarte

Righties vs. Jharel Cotton – Stanton, Ozuna, Realmuto and Moore

Righties vs. Clayton Richard – Everyone but Votto and Schebler. And even those to are OK vs. lefties.

Righties vs. Jose Urena – Phegely, Healy, Pinder, K Davis and Plouffe

Lefties vs. JC Ramirez – Gardner, Hicks, Gregorius and Headley

MLB Preview, Monday June 12th – DraftKings & Fanduel

We only have 9 games today, but it look like a solid slate none the less. Near the top we get Jacob deGrom, coming off of back to back awful performances. He face the Cubs at home, so it’s not like the matchup is great, but I still like this spot. His K rate is elite for this slate, and although the Cubs lineup is stacked, they haven’t been great this season. I think he will be popular, but I’m willing to take a chance here with deGrom.

Mike Foltynewicz face the Nationals in Washington. This is a GPP PLAY ONLY, cause Folty may have found something in his game. He has a 19% swinging strike rate on his change up to lefties, so if he has figured out to throw it more, he could be in for another good outing. He is very good vs, righties, so Mike is interesting. This could easily blow up in my face, but on a smaller slate, he’s worth some tourney exposure.

John Lackey takes on the Mets, and he has been getting hit hard. He hasn’t been getting blow up, so I’m not in love with the stack but the one offs are here. Asdrubal Cabrera is solid, filling up a shortstop and getting a good matchup. Granderson is only $3,700 on DraftKings and I also like Jay Bruce. The stack is fine, but I’m more targeting these guys as one offs.

Yovani Gallerdo has been struggling to right handed bats. The Twins have Dozier and Sano in great spots. Kepler and Grossman are also fine plays, as Gallerdo doesn’t miss many bats. The low owned “bonus stack” today is the White Sox. Miley gets crushed by right handed bats. Frazier, Abreu, Davidson, Avisail crush righties, so this could be a great chance to get a low owned stack with good upside.

MLB Preview, Saturday June 10th – DraftKings & Fanduel

We have a pair of slates today, 8 games in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. For the morning slate, I’m looking to Jeff Samardzija at $10,900 on DraftKings. Jeff has been really good this season, despite a 2-7 record. In 6 of his last 7 starts, he has had at least 8Ks. This Twins team strikes out a lot, and Jeff gets to pitch in massive AT&T Park. For my SP2 I’m going to pay down to Jeff Hoffman at $6,700. Hoffman’s 3 starts this season, he has gotten 21.2, 30 and 34 fantasy points. He has a 33K% this season, so the upside is high in a tough matchup vs. the Cubs. It’s a GPP play only.

There aren’t too many glorious spots here to stack, but one that is in a nice spot are the Houston Astros, at home, taking on Ricky Nolasco.  Nolasco has reverse splits, struggling to righties, and that plays in the Astros hands. Correa, Springer and Altuve are priced up, but taking Hoffman allows me to afford the big boys. Don’t avoid the lefties either, Reddick, Beltran, McCann and Gonzalez, Nolasco is bad at baseball. A low owned stack in the morning is the Miami Marlins. They have been on a roll of late, since putting Stanton in the 2nd spot in the batting order. They have a ton of pop in Stanton, Ozuna and Moore, with some stolen base upside in Dee Gordon and Yelich. Trevor Williams struggles more to the right handed bats, but Yelich and Gordon are still in play.

The main slate has 6 games, with quite a few pitching options. Chris Sale is on the slate, and in play, but I’m going to Luis Severino vs. Baltimore. Severino has the K upside with at least 7 in his last 4 starts. Hopefully Machado doesn’t play. The Orioles don’t have many left handed bats in the lineup, so we won’t worry too much about the short porch in right field. Arieal Miranda is boom or bust. I’m willing to take the risk, but his night could be over in the first inning. He has had some tough recent match ups in Coors Field and in Washington, but the his other starts have been pretty good. The K’s are either there or not, we have seen up to 9, but also only 1. GPPs only.

Tough slate for the bats, but Junior Guerra is in Arizona. It is super hot in Arizona, and for some reason they open the roof up to embrace the 100 degree weather. The ball will fly and Guerra has been giving it up to righties. He also struggles with command, and when the DBacks get on base, they run. They have a crazy steal rate and are on pace to break the record for stealing 3rd base. My preferred plays are Lamb, Goldy, Perlta, Owings and Drury. The Yankees take on Chris Tilman in Yankees Stadium. I’m looking to the Bronx Bombers to put a pounding on Tilman, who struggles vs. the left handed bats. Gardner, Didi, Headley and Hicks are the lefties in the lineup. I also like Judge (how can you not) and Gary Sanchez has tremendous upside for the catcher position.

MLB Preview, Friday June 9th – DraftKings & Fanduel

Pitching on today’s 14 game slate is tough. Our SP1 today is Corey Kluber. Kluber has been lights out in 3 of his last 4 starts, and now gets a weak White Sox team. He provides elite upside on this slate with few good pitching options. The White Sox like to strikeout, so double digit K’s could be in play. Kluber for cash and GPPs.

The SP2 today is very tough. Shoemaker owns the Astros, so I don’t mind that spot, but Montgomery faces a Baltimore team, potentiality without Machado. Jordan Montgomery has had decent K rate to righties, where most of the O’s bats hit from. He has been very good to both sides of the plate, and has limited contact to both sides of the plate. GPPs only.

The Mets face off in Atlanta vs. Julio Teheran. Teheran struggles vs. lefties, giving up a .391 wOBA to lefties and .533 slugging. This park already plays small to left handed bats, and all the good Mets batters are left handed. Conforto, Cabrera, Bruce, Walker and Duda are all in an excellent spot. This might be the worst team for Teheran, and they are priced reasonably. It’s hot in Atlanta, and the ball flies when it is hot.

The Boston Red Sox have a fantastic spot vs. Jordan Zimmermann. Every single advanced stat for Jordan Zimmermann is awful. He struggles to both sides of the plate, with zero swing and miss stuff. Giving up over 2 HRs/9 to both sides of the plate, this is a spot to win a GPP. Betts in $4,300 on DK for some reason. The rest of the stack should be, Moreland, Bogarts and Benintendi.

MLB Preview, Thursday June 8th – DraftKings & Fanduel

MLB Preview, Thursday June 8th – DraftKings & Fanduel

We have 8 games today on the main slate, starting with Lance McCullers in Kauffman Stadium. McCullers is extremely expensive on DraftKings at $11,200, but I’ll pay up for this matchup. He gets a bigger ballpark, and the Royals still suck. With a 32K% to righties, Lance provides elite upside, with no major holes in his game. McCullers has gotten the walk rate down, and is very good to both sides of the plate. I’m looking to Lance McCullers in cash and GPPs.

Jake Odorizzi is my SP2, and with a weak pitching slate, I’m looking for about 19 points. With not very many good options, we get Odorizzi in a big ballpark, vs. a White Sox’s team, that isn’t very good. The White Sox do strikeout the 12th most in the MLB, so the upside could be there. The problem is Jake doesn’t get too many K’s. He’s only gotten more than 6K’s once this year, but if he can go 6 innings K 6 and get a win, I’ll be happy. If you want to get crazy, I don’t think playing Christian Bergman ($5,800) is in the worst spot.

The Seattle Mariners face Kyle Gibson, in Seattle. Gibson isn’t very good, he doesn’t miss any bats, and gets smashed from both sides of the plate. A .413 wOBA to righties and .393 to lefties, isn’t a sign of success, and this M’s team can hit. With Cano, Seager, Gamel and Motter being my favorites. Zuninio went double dong last night, so if you want to pay up for him, he’s fine, I just won’t be doing it.

Going to keep going to Sun Trust Park until they fail. It should always be in play since the Braves will normally roll out a trash can on the mound, and no different tonight in R.A. Dickey. As for Ben Lively, we don’t know much about him, but he didn’t register a strikeout in 7 innings pitched. I’m looking to the top of the order from both sides, with Inciarte, Kemp, Adams and Flowers on the Braves side. For the Phillies I’m looking to all of the lefties.

MLB Preview, Wednesday June 7 – DraftKings & Fanduel

MLB Preview, Wednesday June 7 – DraftKings & Fanduel

Today we have a 12 game main slate, and we avoid Kershaw and Coors Field. I’m looking to Zack Greinke at $12,400 on DraftKings. He faces the Padres in Chase Field, so the park isn’t great, but the strikeout upside is here. The Padres strikeout the 3rd most in the MLB, at 25.3% of the time. They have a lot of boom or bust hitters, that aren’t very good. As much as I love Ryan Schimpf and Hunter Renfroe, they just aren’t very good. Greinke is my SP1 for the strikeout upside vs. a strikeout heavy team.

[ess_grid alias=”MLB Packages”]

For my SP2 I’m riding with Jimmy Nelson. This will probably be the chalk spot for mid range pitchers, but I’m fine with it. He gets to face a Giants team, that is not very good. They don’t strikeout a lot, but they don’t have a lot of big bats in their lineup either. Jimmy has had back to back amazing performances punching out 10 and 11 in his last two starts.

The Mariners face Adalberto Mejia in Seattle. Despite being a lefty himself, Mejia is not very good lefties, giving up 3.86 HR/9 to, including a .727 slugging as well. He is not good to either side of the plate, so everyone is in play. Cruz is a lefty masher, and although the Mairners have a few lefty bats, I still like the matchup. I like Cruz, Cano, Seager and Gamel.

We are going back to Sun Trust Park, where both Eickhoff and Foltynewicz struggle against left handed bats. From the Phillies side I like the switch hitters in Hernandez and Galvis. Also Herrera, Altherr and Saunders. On the Braves side the top of the order for me. Inciarte, Kemp, Adams, Markakis and Flowers. Both of these cheap stacks can allow you to pay up for the aces on this slate
