FAQs

Am I eligible to win?
Are you a Pro Member? If so, you are eligible to win! If not, you can still sign up here. Even if you start a 7-Day trial before April 9, you will be eligible.

When will the lineup be posted?
The lineup will be posted within the first few minutes of the contest.

How do you split the winnings?
The method is TBD and depending on the amount won. If we a small amount like $30, I will probably re-invest the money back into other GPPs for the site. If it’s a few thousand, I will launch a freeroll and use the winnings as the prize pool. If it’s a large amount like $100,000, I will just send everyone a check or send it via PayPal. It will be a good problem to figure out!

A quick explanation on why I chose this lineup. With only five games on the slate, I didn’t think there was enough value to roster one of the studs (as much as I like LeBron). With a single-bullet in a big tournament like this, I opted for a more balanced approach with some high upside players. We will likely need 7x value from the entire lineup to win this thing and these are the players I think have the best chance to accomplish that goal. Also note that this is a highly volatile lineup. It’s high risk and high reward. I didn’t build a lineup looking for a min cash. This lineup is built TO WIN! I figured splitting $100K with Pro Members would be much better than splitting $30 🙂

Few other quick notes: I liked using two centers. That tends to be a contrarian strategy in big GPPs, which can set us apart. I felt that Whiteside, Evans and Love were almost “must plays” at their prices. All three have enormous upside and should be under-owned. I think Parker is a solid contributor, in a great matchup and is almost a lock to hit 5x value with a chance at much more. Deng and Ibaka are very risky players but they will log big minutes. They are not the primary scoring options on their team, but can score in many categories. Finally, Shumpert is one of the better values on the board. He’s coming off a season high in minutes which bodes well for his role in the rotation today. He’s not afraid to shoot the ball and if he gets hot…look out!

Here’s the lineup:

I had a really difficult time deciding on a Quarterback this week. I wanted Aaron Rodgers but he was a big hit to the cap and hindered our ability to spend elsewhere. I kicked around Derek Carr and Tyrod Taylor but I settled on the stack of Cam Newton and Greg Olsen. This is strictly based on opportunity. If you read the Cheat Sheet, you’ll know that Newton is on pace to shatter his career highs in both passing and rushing attempts. He’s simply an offensive machine and should see the greatest opportunity for fantasy points. Greg Olsen is his favorite target and NEVER comes off the field. Literally, check the Snap Counts, he’s the only player in the league (RB, WR or TE) that has played 100% of their team’s snaps.

Running Back is a phenomenally deep position this week. I believe it to be the position that will win or lose GPPs. Karlos Williams is probably the best value play on the board, which is no secret. Williams has been great this season and LeSean McCoy will be sitting this game out, meaning all the workload is going to Williams. It’s usually not advisable to roster someone who’s going to be so highly owned, but he present too much value to pass up.

Eddie Lacy, in my opinion, is going to be one of the lowest owned players on the board. I think he’s going to scare a lot of owners because he’s been banged up and was out-touched by James Starks last week. I am not concerned one bit. The Packers jumped out early and didn’t need to risk a setback to Lacy so they let Starks take the majority of the work. When Lacy played, he looked awesome! I think he’s going to be back to the workhorse back, in an awesome matchup with a great gamescript.

The Wide Receivers are pretty self-explanatory. I went with as many guaranteed targets as I could find. AJ Green, Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb should all certainly see ten targets at a minimum. They are in great matchups and have tremendous upside. This is always my way of getting exposure to the other QBs I liked, in Carr, Andy Dalton and Rodgers.

I decided to go with a second TE and settled on Charles Clay. An incredible athletic TE who has been great this season, catching a TD in each of his last two games. With Sammy Watkins out for the Bills, there should be a few extra targets headed Clay’s way. Also, the matchup is great, as the Giants have surrendered the fourth most DraftKings points to opposing TEs.

Defense is a crapshoot IMO, since you are really looking for defensive TDs which are nearly impossible to predict. However, we can predict the factors that lead to turnovers, which tend to be pressure on the QB. The Eagles can absolutely get pressure on the QB and defensives has scored nearly 11 points per game against the Redskins this season.

I will update in detail why we went with each of those players, but if you read my articles this week you probably know why! I wanted to post it before lock so we could sweat together!

Good luck us!

EDIT: Alright, let’s discuss these players and why I chose to roster them.

I really wanted a Rodgers/Cobb stack, but I had to compromise on parts of the lineup that I wasn’t ready to compromise on. The good thing is that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t necessarily need a WR stacked with him. He’s so good at spreading the ball around he could very easily throw three or four TDs to different receivers. He’s not dependent on one receive like Matt Ryan is with Julio Jones.

Latavius Murray was one of my favorite plays on the board. I have him in so many different lineups. This is very simple. Murray has been outstanding this season and was a top 10 RB coming into the week. He’s facing the team that’s given up the most rushing yards in the league at 160 yards a game. No brainer.

Jamaal Charles is simply a stud, on long rest, and in a pretty decent matchup with GB. The entire Chiefs offense runs through this guy and Las Vegas thinks a ton of points will be scored in this Monday Night matchup. I am not concerned about the big spread because he is still heavily involved in the pass game if the Chiefs get down and have to throw.

I love the idea of Mike Evans, who is a stud with massive upside is going to be incredible under-owned. I suspect his ownership to be close to 1% after a miserable game last week. This is the type of play that when it hits, can win you a $1 million.

I went back with the double TE strategy. It would allow me to spend up on Charles, Rodgers and Cobb while hopefully producing some great value plays. Jared Cook is Nick Foles favorite target in a game that has the second highest total on the board and only 1.5 point spread. That would indicate a lot of points scored both ways. Eric Ebron has been very solid for the Lions through two games and is clearly becoming one of Matt Stafford’s favorite redzone targets. I think that SNF game vs. Denver could turn into a shootout very quickly.

Brandon Marshall was one of my favorite players on the slate. He’s the option receiving option with Eric Decker ruled out in a game where you think the Jets would have to throw quite a bit. Marshall and Fitzpatrick are clearly connecting right now and his price is simply too low.

Jarvis Landry is actually one of my least favorite plays. He’s a PPR monster but I didn’t love the matchup with the Bills. Quite honestly, I am a little disappointed in this play already. I shouldn’t have settled for Landry but I was stubborn on the rest of my lineup and I wouldn’t budge. I thought Landry was the top option in his price range.

Well, we whiffed again in the Millionaire Maker but I am still very optimistic with the lineup. Here’s the original post. As you can see we had to make some last minute pivots. I loved the Alshon Jeffery play, he was in a prime matchup (despite what anyone thinks about Patrick Peterson) and he would have been so low owned. Here’s the lineup we ended up going with:

Screen Shot 2015-09-22 at 9.52.43 AM

This was such a good lineup looking back, I am really happy with it. It simply didn’t work out.

The fact that Tony Romo, who was the 3rd highest scoring QB in Week 1, was the underdog in the highest O/U game on the board was only 3.9% owned is absolutely criminal. I mentioned that his pricing was so weird, I thought that he could easily be under 10%, but I never imagined he’d be under 5%. If he goes out and scores 25+ DK points, we would have been in serious business. Unfortunately, as you probably know, he broke his collarbone and left the game early. Nothing you can do about that, injuries are unpredictable.

We paired Romo with Witten who had a nice game going in the first half. Unfortunately, Witten’s value is significantly higher with Romo under center. Witten had 9 targets in this game, 8 of them in the first half and only one after Brandon Weeden entered the game.

The Saints game was one of the weirdest of the week. We expected the Saints to be up big and game flow would indicate a ton of runs. Ingram ran well but only saw 16 carries and was not at all involved in the pass game. I thought he would easily break 25 touches, that didn’t happen and his value suffered.

I was pretty stunned to see how little Matt Forte was used. After 29 touches in Week 1, he only had 19 in Week 2. Many considered his workload would go up with the news that Jeffery wasn’t going to play. I pivoted to him in many lineups and we didn’t get nearly the production we needed.

The WRs were solid for us. It took until the last drive of the game but Matthews scored 20 DK points and saved me in many lineups. Jarvis Landry is a stud. He is a target monster, has a nose for the endzone and returns kicks. Davante Adams was a calculated risk. I knew he would be super under-owned and he was. He played more snaps than any other GB WR last week and high upside is always tremendous with Rodgers as his QB.

Jordan Reed had a nice day with his $3,700 price tag. The Redskins didn’t have to throw as much as expected, but he still had six targets and returned nearly 4x his value.

We just completely whiffed on the defense. I don’t think anyone expected the Jaguars to be as effective vs. the Dolphins as they were.

This was a pretty solid lineup for losing your starting QB and taking a zero at the defense position. You have to remember with this GPP lineups, especially as big as the MM, you have to take on risk to reap the reward. The risk bit us this week, but we will look to bounce back in Week 3. Stay tuned!

The Week 1 lineup didn’t cash but I was really optimistic with the results. Here’s this weeks lineup:

Screenshot 2015-09-19 18.59.34

EDIT: With the Alshon Jeffery news (he’s out), we had to make some quick pivots. Here is the new lineup  (11:11 am EST):

Screenshot 2015-09-20 07.47.24

We are back on Tony Romo this week and we’ve paired him with Jason Witten. Romo is priced in an area where I think he will be overlooked despite being last week’s third highest scoring QB. Many will opt for Big Ben at $7,200 or spend up for Drew Brees. I will be very interested to see his ownership numbers this week. The matchup is certainly prime with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys are underdogs in the highest total game on the board, which would indicate a lot of points and a lot of passing opportunities for the Cowboys. With the loss of Dez Bryant, I think Jason Witten is about to turn into a huge weapon for the Romo. Witten should be the guy that moves the ball down field, racking up the targets, catches and yards. Also, he should see the large majority of redzone targets.

I really wanted Mark Ingram here, but I think I found a better combination with Justin Forsett and Carlos Hyde. First, Hyde will be incredibly over-owned but I am fine with that. This is purely an opportunity for volume. I suspect the Niners are going to give the ball to Hyde as often as possible and he will see 20+ touches. I am looking for 20-25 DK points out of him at his price, which I think is certainly possible. Justin Forsett is an attempt to be a little contrarian. He had an absolutely miserable day against the Broncos defense in Week 1, but I believe that many RBs will have difficulty with the stout DEN defense. This week, the Ravens are significant favorites over the Raiders, so game script would indicate a lot of rushes for Forsett. I also expect him to be involved in the pass game and his ownership to completely bottom out.

Alshon Jeffery is another contrarian play that could pay off large. He’s been banged up and many people perceive his matchup with Patrick Peterson to be a bad one. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. PP is exactly the type of CB that Jeffery has shredded in his career. Jeffery will monopolize all the targets on a team that’s going to have to throw a ton to win this game.

Jarvis Landry and Julian Edelman are very similar. They are both high volume, PPR plays who serve as the #1 receiver on their team. They are safe plays because they rack up so many catches, but if they find the endzone and/or eclipse 100 yards, they are in store for massive days.

Jordan Reed in the FLEX is an interesting little play that I will discuss more in a second. Reed is clearly one of Kirk Cousins favorite targets as he saw 11 last week and had a massive day. With the injury to DeSean Jackson, more targets will be up for grabs which could bump Reed’s value even higher.

Okay, so I actually did two different strategies to help differentiate myself from the field when it comes to roster construction. You’ll notice that I rostered two tight ends. That’s a strategy that not many owners employ despite the high upside that many TEs have right now. Four of the top eight point scorers of Week 1 were TEs. They can be cheap fliers that can pay off large.

Additionally, I paired Jarvis Landry with the Dolphins defense. This is not a strategy that you can employ often, but I found a high volume WR who also returns kicks. Additionally, the Dolphins defense is one of the highest ranking of the week. Landry is a good play on his own thanks to his receiving ability, but if he breaks a punt return TD, he is going to get 6 points and so is the Dolphins defense. This increases our upside as an entire lineup.
