Tournament History, Performance, Stats and Salaries At Bottom!
The U.S. Open has come and gone and we are back overseas for a true Euro Tour event on Draftkings. In a field that contains several big names, here are some guys who have hot and cold course history and recent form to help you with roster selection when building lineups.
Hot Course History:
Thomas Bjorn ($7,300) – Nobody has hotter course history than Thomas Bjorn short of Henrik Stenson. Bjorn’s course history features six straight made cuts dating back to 2004 and has three top tens in his four most recent appearances. With top ten upside I like the idea of putting Bjorn in a lot of lineups this week.
Simon Dyson ($6,400) – Dyson has the makeup of an incredible GPP option at only $6,400 he has two top fives in his three most recent appearances at this event and is six for six in cuts made at this event. As a golfer who doesn’t boast any recent form to speak of, Dyson has the potential to go under the radar with really great upside.
Cold Course History:
Bernd Wiesberger ($9,000) – Wiesberger is not typically a name that finds his way into a cold section of any article, however Wiesberger has played this event twice and never made the cut. Obviously the sample size is small and a golfer as skilled as Wiesberger could certainly change that trend but its enough to give me pause when considering which golfers I want to roster.
Richard Bland ($7,400) – With seven straight made cuts this year I expect Bland to be a strong consideration in many rosters, however consider the fact that Bland also contains back to back missed cuts at this event and it’s definitely enough to consider fading Bland.
Hot Recent Form:
Sergio Garcia ($11,900) – Garcia’s recent form is as good as it’s been in his career in a long time. It’s easy to see one win and two top fives in his recent form and want to roster him, however it’s the fact that his win was on the PGA tour, an occurrence which hasn’t happened since 2012, and his fifth place last week was in the U.S. Open that has me thinking his course history is truly elite.
Rikard Karlberg ($9,600) – I don’t have much to say about Karlberg other than the fact that he is much cheaper than some of the top options in the field and has top ten finishes in four of his last five events. What happened in that fifth event you might ask, just a twenty-first finish which means Karlberg has been twenty-first or better for the last ten weeks.
Cold Recent Form:
Henrik Stenson ($10,800) – What a strange sequence of events we’ve seen recently as Henrik Stenson, one of golf’s most consistent golfers for years, has missed three cuts in four events. While technically Stenson withdrew from the U.S. Open he was sixteen holes into his second nine and poised to miss the cut by a mile. I suspect it was more a function of not wanting to stick around another night just to play two additional holes. All that being said, Stenson easily has the best course history in the field this week with second or sixth place finishes in his last four appearances here. Tread carefully as Stenson does not appear to be the same golfer we have come to expect of late.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat ($7,200) – Aphibarnrat really has not been good recently with three missed cuts in five events he hasn’t finished inside the top sixty in over ten weeks. Kiradech has no course history and terrible recent form which feels like a recipe for disaster. I’ll be looking elsewhere this week when choosing my lineup construction.
